The inspiring idea behind 'The Postbus Project'
Every year, SIS Basel implements an exciting project that thinks outside the box. Last year, we sent a balloon into space with a camera – this year, we face a new, more grounded challenge: a bus, found in a scrapped, destroyed, and non-operational state. From this point, our mission begins to give it a second life. It's about gaining valuable experience and solving problems together as we renovate and repurpose this unique vehicle.
Bringing joy: What children should experience
What we truly want with the converted Postbus is to make children happy and create something good for the school. The vehicle will become a safe place for play, imagination, and joint discovery. Here, children can not only play but also express their creativity, make new friends, and experience unforgettable adventures. It should be a place that inspires dreaming and wonder and sparks their curiosity.
What makes our project so special
What makes our 'Postbus Project' so unique is the fact that we, a group of 13-14-year-olds, are converting a bus and placing it on our school's playground. It's not often that an entire class takes on such a demanding renovation project. This practical experience not only fosters craftsmanship but also teamwork, problem-solving strategies, and a strong sense of personal responsibility – competencies that are important far beyond the classroom.
